Every year, Value Square works for a good cause. One of the organizations that we have already supported in the past is the Food banks. Based on this involvement, we organize on May 21, 2026 at 10:30am a Charity Event at the Value Square office. In addition to our financial support, we are also rolling up our sleeves ourselves: we will soon be helping as volunteers in a local branch of the Food Banks.
During this presentation, we would like to give the floor to three engaged speakers who will take you into the story of the Food Banks in East Flanders:
They will explain what the Food Banks do, what they stand for and share some compelling anecdotes from their daily activities.
Until now, the Food Banks have received significant support from the European Union and the federal and regional authorities, in addition to in-kind donations from food industry companies, department stores and auctions. However, this government support is being drastically reduced.
At the same time, the number of people in need who come to the Food Banks is increasing year after year. This risks leading to a significant reduction in the amount of food that can be distributed per beneficiary - while today it is possible to provide each beneficiary with meals for five days a week.
For this reason, the Federation is actively looking for structural partners in the business world, including outside the food sector, to help compensate for the lost government support.
With this event, we not only want to inform, but also raise awareness and see together how we can make a sustainable impact.
